Two Media briefings were convened in Colombo today by teacher trade unions to educate the media regarding the unresolved grievances of teachers & principals in the country’s education sector.

General Secretary of the Ceylon Teacher's Union Joseph Stalin expressing his views noted that 15 education sector trade unions had decided to obtain sick leave on the 4th of next month as a measure to gain the governments attention regarding its grievances.

However the Association of Educational Professionals will not participate in this trade union action.

Wasantha Dharmasiri Secretary of the Association of Educational Professionals expressing his views regarding teacher-principal grievances noted that professionals attached to the AEP had decided to report to work wearing a black band commencing from January next year.
