The Disaster Management Centre stated that several roads that were blocked due to disasters triggered by the inclement weather conditions will be restored soon.
Vehicle transportation in certain areas of Nuwara-eliya, Moneragala, Matara and Kegalle were hindered as a result.
5 deaths were also reported due to the disaster situation which affected several parts of the island during the last 48 hours.
Deputy Media Director of the DMC Sarath Lal Kumara stated that steps are being taken to provide relief to those affected.
Speaking further he also had this to say.
Meanwhile, Duty Meteorologist Pabodhini Karunapala speaking regarding the prevailing weather conditions stated that showers exceeding 150 milimeters can be expected in certain areas today.
Meanwhile, residents of villages Wadinagala, Kiwulogama, Devalahinda in Damana – Ampara stated that they felt a minor tremor yesterday.
However, when we inquired with this regard from the Chairman of the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau Dr. N P Wijayananda stated that no tremors have been reported during the last 24 hours.
