The Medical Supplies Division is due to provide private sector pharmacies with stocks of Trinitrate Glyceryl via the State Pharmaceutical Cooperation.
A shortage of the drug was reported at private pharmacies recently.
Accordingly Minister of Health Maithreepala Sirisena had instructed the Medical Supplies Division to inquire into the dearth.
If a shortage persists within the private pharmaceutical sector of the country, the Ministry of Health is legally endowed to intervene on its behalf.
At present there is no shortage of Trinitrate Glyceryl in the government sector.
The Medical Supplies Division notes that it is in possession of supplies adequate for 6 months.
Against this backdrop Director of the Medical Supplies Division Dr. Kamal Jayasinghe states that stocks of TNT sufficient for a month could be provided to the private pharmaceutical sector VIA SPC upon its request.
Moreover Minister of Health Maithreepala Sirisena has instructed the Medical Supplies Division to release stocks of TNT required by the private health sector for a month.
