The three-member committee report on the clash that had occurred at the Welikada Prison is scheduled to be handed over to the prisons commissioner general in the coming week.
Prisons and Reforms Minister Chandrasiri Gajadheera had appointed a three-member committee for probing the clash.
The committee comprises a prisons commissioner, prisons supervisor and an ASP.
A senior spokesman told our news team that steps had been taken to prepare this report in a manner that all facts relevant to the prison incident were included.
The spokesman said further that evidence from prison officers, other security sections and also detainees relevant to the incident had been recorded.
In addition a three-member committee headed by a retired high court judge was appointed for investigating the Welikada prison incident.
A clash between the Welikada prison detainees and security officers cropped up on 9th this month.
While 27 detainees were killed in the clash nearly 40 other persons sustained injuries.
