3261 individuals belonging to 780 families in the Hambanthota, Galle, Matara and Nuwara Eliya districts of the Southern and Central provinces have been affected by the inclement weather and 5 deaths have been reported in those districts as well.
The centre for disaster management stated that 32 houses have been completely destroyed while 578 houses are partially damaged.
Sluice gates of several reservoirs and tanks including Udawalawa, Lakshapana, and Weheragala have been opened due to rising water levels.
Meanwhile the met department states that thundershowers will be experienced in many regions of the island today.
Meteorologist Jeewan Karunarathna stated that gale winds can be experienced along with these thundershowers.
