The centre for disaster management states that due to the heavy rains experienced in the past 24 hours, several main rivers are still at spill level and sluice gates of several reservoirs were slightly opened.

However, the centre for disaster management states that the roads that were blocked due to landslides and the roads that were inundated have been restored.

The centre for disaster management also stated that following a second landslide in the Beragala region along the Colombo - Badulla main road, the road had been cleared and restored to working order.

Meteorologist in charge Jeevan Karunaratne said that heavy rain is expected within the next 24 hours in many areas of the island.
