Russia will vote in favour of granting upgraded status to the Palestinians at the United Nations.

Russia, a permanent member of the UN Security Council, has long stated it will back a resolution to grant the Palestinian Authority the status of a "non-member state".

The majority of the 193 member states are expected to vote in favour of the resolution, including Russia and China, with Israel and its staunch ally the United States opposing the decision.
