Two petitions filed before the Mount Lavinia District Court today
seeking an interim injunction order on the National Convention of the
United National Party
due to be held on the 01st of December have been rejected.

The petitions which were filed by UNP Akuressa Divisional Party
Organiser Withana Godawaththage were taken up before Mount Lavinia
Additional District Majistrate Pradeep M. Abeyrathna this morning &
were subsequently rejected.

Moreover notice was issued to the Leader of the UNP Ranil
Wickremesinghe & its working committee who were cited as respondents
of the petitions to file their replies & rejections.

A petition which was filed before the Nugegoda District Court seeking
a court order to proscribe the National convention of the UNP was
rejected yesterday.

The petition was filed by the Opposition Leader of the Devinuwara
Pradeshiya Sabha E.W. Thushara.

In his petition the applicant had urged the Nugegoda District Court to
issue an interim injunction order proscribing the National Convention
of the UNP.
