The 4 MP's representing the opposition in the parliamentary select committee appointed to investigate the impeachment charges filed against the chief justice have requested for a cessation of activities of the committee during parliaments vacation.
Democratic National Alliance MP Wijitha Herath who represents the PSC added that a written submission bearing the signatures of the 4 opposition MP's represented in the PSC had already been handed over to the speaker in this regard.
Parliamentary activities of this year are due to conclude on the 08th of December.
In their submission to the speaker the 4 opposition MP's represented in the PSC have requested for a cessation of activities of the PSC until parliament reconvenes in January next year.
When inquired by Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakkodi in this regard he noted that if the PSC intends on extending its tenure parliaments consent should be obtained.
