The health ministry issuing a communiqué yesterday stated that the treasury has given its consent for majority of demands put forward by the nurse’s service.
The ministry stated that 5 demands were approved during the discussion held with states services united nurses union and the relevant officials.
Treasury secretary Dr.P B Jayasundara has informed the health ministry in writing to issue the relevant circulars within 2 weeks.
However certain nurses unions hold a different opinion.
Chairman of the All island nurses union S B Madiwaththa states that it undermines the nurses struggle.
Government nurses union Chairman Saman Rathnapriya also expressed his views.
