Trade unions attached to the Sri Lanka Transport Board state that a majority of its employees have not been granted their salaries due for the past 3 months.
Secretary of All Ceylon Transport Workers Union, Sepala Liyanage charged that a majority of SLTB employees attached to its depots have been deprived of their salaries due for the months of September, October and November.
Expressing his views to our news team, Liyanage noted that if this issue is not resolved immediately, the union will be forced to take action.
Our news team contacted the Deputy General Manager of Sri Lanka Transport Board Sarath Kumara regarding this issue. He stated that during the past few days certain depot employees had been demanding for their salaries.
However, the Deputy General Manager confirmed that backlogs in salaries had been settled completely.
