It is reported that court activities in several parts of the island have been hampered resulting in a meeting between district court judges & magistrate court judges.
According to our provincial correspondents a majority of court cases taken up for consideration today were postponed for a later date, due to acting magistrates presiding over them.
Issuing a release yesterday the Ministry of Justice informed the public that court
activities may be hampered as result of today's meeting.
The release which was issued bearing the signature of the Secretary to the Minister of Justice noted that the public may be inconvenienced due to today's slated meeting between district & magistrate court judges.
According to reports, all court cases taken up at Magistrate & District Courts in the Anuradhapura District today were presided over by acting magistrates.
Meanwhile all court activities at the Badulla Court complex were at a standstill today according to our correspondent with none of the cases being adjudged.
Moreover acting magistrates had presided over most cases taken up at court complexes in the Mathara District.
However activities at the Hulftsdorp court complex is said to be proceeding devoid of any hindrance.
