The Parliamentary Select Committee appointed to investigate the impeachment motion put forward against Chief Minister Dr. Shirani Bandaranayake will meet for the second time today.
Reports say that the Chief Justice has been asked to appear before the PSC today as well.
While the PSC met for the first time on the 23rd of last month, the Chief Justice appeared before it.
In a letter addressed to the Speaker signed by the four opposition MPs serving as members of the PSC it was requested that work of the PSC be withheld during parliamentary vacation.
While Parliament is scheduled to conclude its activities of this year by the 8th of this month, it is scheduled to resume its term of sessions in January next year.
PSC representative MP John Amaratunga told our news team that the Speaker had informed him that he would convey his final decision on the request of the four Opposition MPs representing the PSC today.
