One of the 4 students from the Jaffna University who were arrested recently was released after being presented before the Vavuniya Magistrate's Court today.
These 4 students were arrested following their attempt to celebrate the LTTE Heroes day inside the Jaffna University on the 28th of November.
The police media unit stated that the other 3 students are currently being questioned by the Terrorist Investigation Department in Vavuniya.
Meanwhile a protest took place in front of the Jaffna bus stand with regard to the arresting of the 4 students with the participation of representatives of political parties, representatives of civil organizations and university students.
In addition, speaking at a press conference held in Colombo today, the convenor of the Equal Rights Movement, Ravindra Mudalige stated that the government security divisions are behind the arrests.
