A tense situation arose in parliament today when the expenditure columns of 3 ministers were being debated.
The ensuing situation took place when Minister of Housing & Common amenities Wimal Weerawansa commenced his speech and were heckled by opposition members.
Due to the disruption of his scheduled speech, Minister Weerawansa there by requested for an additional 10 minutes from the Chair of the house.
Accordingly a ballot was called in and 42 votes were in favour of minister Weerawansas's request while 18 were in disfavour.
Accordingly Minister Weerawansa was granted an additional 10 minutes to conclude his speech, during which disturbances from the opposition were persistent.
