12 Railway Trade unions commenced a token strike from yesterday midnight that will be continued till midnight today.
Due to the strike, a number of office trains have been obstructed.
Even though usually about 60 trains are scheduled to ply every morning, information received from the Railway Controller Room stated that no schedule has been made for the trains due to function this morning.
All the postal trains have been cancelled as well.
Chairman of the Railway Controllers Union Lal Ariyarathne states that these actions were taken in protest of the non submission of salary recommendations due by the Salaries Commission.
