The Udarata Menike train plying between Badulla & Colombo was stopped for nearly an hour this morning at the Bandarawela railway station.
The reason for the delay has been attributed to a breakfast break obtained by the engine driver of the train who had not been assisted by the relevant station master to obtain breakfast.

According to a senior source from the Department of Railways, a special investigation has been launched into the incident.
Moreover, the General Manager of Railways Department has directed the Nawalapitiya Regional Railway Transport Director to appoint a two member impartial committee to conduct an investigation into the incident.
The General Manager of Railway Department had requested the investigations to be concluded within 3 days and to be updated on the guilty party.
