The final report compiled by the Parliamentary Select Committee appointed to investigate the impeachment motion filed against the Chief Justice was presented before parliament a few hours ago.
The report was presented before parliament by Chairman of the PSC Minister Anura Priyadharshana Yapa.
Accordingly, the Speaker has agreed to a ten day debate on the issue followed by a period of one month.
In related news, United National Party parliamentarians John Amarathunga & Lakshman Kiriella who were represented in the Parliamentary Select Committee appointed to investigate the impeachment charges filed against Chief Justice Dr. Shirani Bandaranaike, have tendered their letters of resignation to the speaker, seeking acknowledgment of resignation from the PSC.
Chief Opposition Whip John Amarathunga expressing his views to our news team noted that his party was fully prepared to partake in the scheduled debate on the impeachment of Chief Justice Dr. Shirani Bandaranaike.
