The All Ceylon Station Masters Union tendered in its response this evening in reply to the delay caused experienced in the Udarata Manike train service this morning.
Accordingly the train had been delayed by an hour due to an issue concerning the engine drivers breakfast.
The engine driver of the train, Siril Sugathadasa who halted the train at the Banadarawela railway station for nearly an hour made the following clarifications regarding the matter in the following manner.
However the General Secretary of the All Ceylon Station Masters Union Somasiri Kahandawala refuted these allegations.
When inquired by the Department of Railways a senior spokesman noted that a special inquiry had been launched into the incident.
The Nawalapitiya Divisional Railways Superintendent has been instructed to submit a report regarding the incident thorough a two person impartial committee which due to submit its findings to the General Manager of Railways within three days.
