Minister of Health Maithreepala Sirisena states that Sri Lanka's 5 year National Health Action Plan is due to be handed over to President Mahinda Rajapaksa tomorrow.
The aim of the 5 year National Health Action Plan is to promote & ensure the quality of health services.
Meanwhile the Ministry of Health today declared the National Health Week pledging commitment & responsibility towards the sector.
According to ministry officials the aim of declaring the health week is to encourage health workers to combat the permeation of disease efficiently concurrent to the heavy showers which were experienced recently.
Programmes under this initiative were observed at all government health institutions located throughout the island at 8.30 am this morning.
However against this backdrop Public Health Inspectors are engaged in a island wide token strike, based on three of their demands.
According to the Secretary of the PHI's Union Upul Rohana the strike has been a success.
