Today marks World Human Rights Day.
Since December 10th 1948 UN member states celebrate World Human Rights Day.
Concurrent to this the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka held a commemorative ceremony in this regard at Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall today.
During the event, MP Wijayadasa Rajapaksa expressed his views regarding the public’s right to information in a democratic country.
Moreover, the UN Secretary Ban Ki Moon issuing a statement to mark World Human Rights day stated that every person in the world should possess the right to raise their voice in the face of issues which affect them.
Meanwhile, the Jana Aragala Movement engaged in a foot walk from the Technical Junction to the Pettah railway station this evening.
The movement demanded that its missing activists Lalith and Kugan be located immediately by authorities.
Coordinator of Jana Aragala Movement Duminda Nagamuwa expressed the following views to media in this regard.
