The medical research institute states that investigations from different angles on the Red Rain reported from various areas are underway.
Doctor Anil Samaranayaka, the Director of the medical research institute states that investigations are being conducted under the guidance of Professor Chandra Wickramasinghe the Director of the Buckingham University Center for Astrobiology.
Red Rain was first reported from Sri Lanka on 14th of November from Thanamalvila - Indikolapalassa area.
Subsequently, the rain was reported from Manampitiya, Hingurakgoda and Puttalama.
When the Medical Research Institute conducted the preliminary tests, it was found that a microbe called 'Trekola-manas' is causing the red colour in the water.
