It is reported that Kavindi 1 fishing boat that set sail from Mirissa port is in distress.

The boat owner Chamil Nishantha informed our news team that the boat with four fishermen on board had met with the tragedy in international waters.

Kavindi 1 set sail on November 10th and they have been in contact with the mainland till November 29th.

Since then, no contact had been made by the boat.

Two of the four missing fishermen have been rescued by another boat from Kuda Walla.

Kavindi 1 owner Chamil Nishantha expressed his views to our news team.

When our news team contacted the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Special Unit about this incident, a spokesperson confirmed that they have been reported of the missing boat.

The spokesperson further stated that investigations are underway.
