The panel of lawyers representing Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake state that as soon as the findings of the Parliamentary Select Committee are released, they will be ready to challenge the findings and prove the innocence of their client.

Against this backdrop Chairman of the PSC Minister Anura Priyadharshana Yapa states that the Chief Justice had chosen to walk away from the PSC when she had been provided ample opportunity to prove her stance.

Releasing a statement the panel of lawyers representing Chief Justice Dr. Shirani Bandaranaike point out that allegations 2 & 3 contained in the impeachment motion, of which the Chief Justice has been exonerated, lacks substantial proof for a conviction & calls into question the basis on which the 117 signatories had placed their signatures on the document.

However Minister Anura Priyadharshana Yapa added that since the proceedings of the PSC had been taped in full, this could be presented as proof.
