No opportunity to intervene on petitions against PSC

Seven petitions filed before court requesting for consent to intervene on petitions filed against the process adopted by Parliamentary Select Committee were rejected by the Supreme Court today.

However attorneys representing these petitions would be permitted to present their facts in this regard.

Attorneys appearing on behalf of all 7 petitions filed against the process adopted by the PSC there by presented their facts before a trial at bar comprising justices Nimal Gamini Amarathunga, K. Sripawan & Priyasad Depp.

Speaking here Justice Nimal Gamini Amarathunga had noted that only parties endowed with judicial powers were able to adjudicate over a matter.

Attorney General Palitha Fernando who presented facts before court today is due to make his presentation before Supreme Courts tomorrow as well.

Attorney-at-law Krishmal Warnakulasooriya who appeared on behalf of petitions filed against the process adopted by the PSC expressed his views to the media subsequent to the day's proceedings.

Chairman of the Sri Lanka Progressive Front Nelson Perera also expressed his views to the media in this regard.
