27 petitions schedule to be taken up today in Court 502 of the Supreme Court were postponed as 2 members of the 3 judge panel had not arrived in court, except Justice Shirani Thilakawardena.

The two Judges who had been absent were Justice S.I. Imam & Chandra Ekanayeke.


The cases were postponed by Supreme Court Judge Thilakawardena as the other two members of the three-member judge panel were absent.

Justice Shirani Thillekewardhana however had provided evidence before the Parliamentary Select Committee appointed to investigate the impeachment motion against Chief Justice Dr. Shirani Bandaranaike.

Meanwhile Deputy Chairman of the Bar Association Attorney-at-Law Anoma Dissanayeke states that she has forwarded her letter of resignation to the association today.

Meanwhile legal luminaries expressed various views concerning the resignation of attorney at law Anoma Gunasekara & the postponement of 27 petitions which were due to be taken before the Supreme Court today.

Attorney's J.C. Weliamuna, Sunil Watagala & Anoma Gunathilleke expressed the following views to our news team in this regard.

Meanwhile Presidents Council Srinath Perera expressed these views during a media briefing which was held today.

Views in this regard meanwhile were sought from Minister of Mass Media Keheliya Rambukwella, who had this to say.

Moreover Attorney at law Gunarathna Wanninayke states that an armed group had attempted to attack him this evening.

According to Wanninayeke the group had attempted to attack him, adjacent to his home located at Pirivena Road, Boralesgamuwa.
