UNP questions the Government's reluctance to appoint independent committee

The United National Party states that it is unclear as to why the government remains reluctant in appointing an independent committee to investigate the chargers being levelled against Chief Justice Dr. Shirani Bandaranaike.

Addressing a media briefing held in Colombo this today party media spokesperson MP Gayantha Karunathilleke stressed on the importance of appointing a committee which comprise both local & international observers.

Meanwhile JVP Parliamentarian Anura Kumara Dissanayeke addressing a media briefing held in Colombo today noted that his party would persistently press for the withdrawal of the impeachment motion against the Chief justice.
