The archaeological department says that for the first time a cemetery belonging to the Dutch period had been found at the excavations carried out within the Galle Fort parapet wall.

Archaeological Department Excavations Officer who executed this excavation Manjulaa Bulathsinhala said that a team including Archaeological Department Excavations Director too had inspected the site yesterday.

The Excavations Officer said that the first human skeleton had been found at this location last Wednesday and that by yesterday three human skeletons had been found from the location.
