Sudden death of 300 dogs reported in Polonnaruwa caused by a virus

District Secretary of Polonnaruwa Nimal Abeysiri states that more than 300 dogs have mysteriously died in the district during the past couple of days.

According to Abeysiri the most number of dead dogs have been reported from the Digamadulla district.

When inquired from the Director General of the Department of Animal Production and Health W.K. De Silva, he noted that the dogs had been killed due to contraction of the distemper virus.
