Two police teams have been appointed to carryout investigations into the shooting which occurred before the home of the President of the Bar Association & UNP MP Wijedasa Rajapaksa early this morning.
According to Police Media Spokesperson SSP Prishantha Jayakodi the investigations are being headed by Senior Superintendent of Police Colombo South.
It is reported that the government analyst had arrived at the site of the incident located at Wijayaba Mawatha, Nawala.
Two ammunition shells have been recovered by police lying on the road situated before the home of parliamentarian Wijedasa Rajapaksa.
According to parliamentarian Wijedasa Rajapaksa the bullets from the shooting which had taken place at around 12.20 this morning had penetrated the wall of his house.
Subsequent to the incident, President Mahinda Rajapaksa as well as Leader of the Opposition Ranil Wickremesinghe had arrived at the home of MP Wijedasa Rajapaksa.
Meanwhile during today's cabinet decision media briefing journalists queried Cabinet Media Spokesperson Minister Keheliya Rambukwella regarding the incident.
