A group including MP's of the Tamil National Alliance engaged in a sathyagraha in the Jaffna town this afternoon calling for the immediate release of four students of the Jaffana University who have been placed under arrest by authorities.

Leader of the Democratic National Front Mano Ganeshan had headed the protest which was attended by parents of students.

TNA Parliamentarian E. Sarwanabhawan expressing his views requested of all relevant parties to secure the release of these four students as soon as possible.

Meanwhile a special discussion was held at the Palali army camp this morning with concern to the situation which has arisen at the University of Jaffna.

Jaffna Security Forces Commander Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe expressing his views to the media noted that investigations in this regard did not hamper activities at the University of Jaffna.
