Flood waters subside in most areas; displaced sent back home.

The Disaster Management Center stated that the flood situation that affected several areas due to adverse weather is gradually subsiding.

The DMC further stated that the number of the flood victims have reduced to 262 thousand 091.

The Deputy Director of the DMC Pradeep Kodippili explained the situation further.

According to the Director of the Water Management Unit of the Department of Irrigation Janaki Meegasthanne, out of 71 reservoirs coming under the purview of the Department of Irrigation 48 reservoirs have brimmed over.

However according to the Department of Meteorology the North,

North Central, Uwa, Hambanthota & Kurunegala may experience further showers.
