Several incidents were reported recently during which the husband had carried out the murder of the spouse.
A similar natured incident was reported from the Gathara area in Kamburupitiya,
Mathara yesterday, during which the husband had assaulted the wife with a Mammoty, resulting in the death of the victim.
The deceased had been a mother of 3 and a personal dispute had led to the murder.
Moreover the corpse of a 30 year old female was recovered from Lumbini Avenue in Piliyandala on Saturday with its head cut off.
This murder too had been executed by the husband of the victim.
The suspect however remains at large.
When inquired by the Senior Lecturer of the Sri Jayawardhanapura Universities' Department of Sociology, Dhanapala Wijesinghe regarding the increased propensity evident in society surrounding such ghastly occurrences, the collapse of interpersonal relationships, mental pressure, low income & sexual depravations were attributed to miscreants.
