307,876 persons who belong to 84,399 families remain distressed by the inclement weather still being experienced in several parts of the island.

According to the Centre for Disaster Management 16,424 individuals out of this lot are being housed at 106 welfare camps.

The Deputy Media Director of the CDM expressing his views to our news team mentioned that 36 deaths, 7 disappearances & 20 injuries have been attributed to the inclement weather.

Set against this backdrop the Department of Meteorology states that strong showers may occur accompanied by gale winds in the Northern & North Western parts of the island this evening.
