Number affected by disaster situation exceeds 400,000; 242 welfare camps established

The Disaster Management Center stated that due to the inclement weather, 400 thousand and 3 individuals from 109 thousand 672 families have been affected.

The latest report released by DMC shows that 39 people have died and 7 are reported missing.

21 thousand 621 houses are partially damaged while 4,176 have been completely destroyed.

The report further states that 39,837 displaced people are still dwelling in 242 relief camps.

The deputy media director of the Disaster Management Centre stated that the number of families affected by the inclement weather in the Northern and Eastern regions has increased.

Meanwhile, 56 families in the vicinity of the Thabbowa tank have been evacuated due to the water level of the tank rising.

The Met department stated that there will be a reduction in the heavy rains experienced today.

However, Meteorologist Channa Radrigo stated that more rain is expected in the North and North Central provinces.
