Public urged to hand over samples of Green rain to Met.Dept.

The Department of Meteorology states that if systematically collected samples of the green pigmented rain is being handed over to the department, such samples could be handed over to the Government Analyst's Department.

Director of the Department of Meteorology Lalith Chandrapala expressing his views to our news team urged the public to handover such samples to the department provided that these samples were meticulously obtained.

Green pigmented rain was experienced in the Thanneowilla area in Mathale yesterday.

Similar incidents regarding red as well as yellow pigmented rain being received in several parts of the island were reported during the recent past.

Sample of the rainwater has been sent to the University of Cardiff in UK for further analysis.
