Opposition leader meets his holiness the Pope today.

Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe currently on a tour of Italy is scheduled to call on His Holiness Pope Benedict the 16th today.


That will be at St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican.


The Opposition Leader's Office said that while on this occasion His Holiness the Pope would be briefed on Sri Lanka's current situation and the Opposition Leader would also participate in a special divine service officiated by the Pope.


A group including Opposition Leader's wife Dr. Maithree Wickremasinghe and Sri Lanka's Ambassador in Italy Asita Perera is scheduled to participate in the occasion.
