The draft 'Divineguma' Act was passed by a majority of 107 votes in parliament last afternoon.

160 votes were received for and only 53 votes were obtained against the draft Act.

While the UPFA voted for the draft Act, the UNP, DNA, TNA voted against it.

The Supreme Court had ordered that the draft Divineguma Act which was presented in parliament on November 6th be passed with amendments with a special majority.

At the third reading of the draft Divineguma Act for having it passed, it was by a majority of 116 votes.

On this occasion 159 votes were for and only 43 were against.

Mewanhile, UNP MP Ajith P Perera expressing his views during the debate had this to say regarding the bill.

Deputy Economic Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardana said that by going to courts against the Divi Naguma Bill, it paved the way to make the public more aware regarding the bill.
