Attorney's to boycott duties today & tomorow

The Bar Association of Sri Lanka has decided to abstain from professional activities during the course of tomorrow & the day after, during which the parliamentary debate on the impeachment of the Chief Justice has been scheduled.

The Bar Association states that 78 of its branches have been informed regarding its decision.

Meanwhile a group of attorneys who had represented the Chief Justice in Court convened a media briefing in Colombo today.

Speaking here attorney-at-law Saliya Peiris expressed the following views with regard to the chargers which have been arraigned against the Chief Justice.

Addressing a media briefing which was convened by the Sri Lanka Freedom Party today Deputy Minister Rohitha Abeygunawardhana stated that the Parliamentary Select Committee had only conducted an investigation on the Chief Justice and not an inquiry.

Moreover JVP Parliamentarian Anura Kumara Dissanayeke expressed the following views in this regard during a media briefing which was convened in Colombo today.

Meanwhile UNP MP Lakshman Kiriella expressed these views concerning the impeachment.
