Court activities hampered for a 2nd day

Court activities were hampered for a second day today as attorneys abstained from their duties, in an expression of dissent against the impeachment debate which was held in parliament today aimed at ousting the Chief Justice.


Several cases which were scheduled to be taken for trial today at the Colombo

Magistrates Court, High Court & Several other District Courts were postponed for later days based upon the discretion of Magistrates.


Meanwhile a group of lawyers engaged in a peaceful protest today before the Colombo Supreme Court complex, sporting black bands.


Attorney-at-Law Sunil Watagala expressing his views to the media made the following observations in this regard.




However the Independent Young Attorney's Association failed to agree with this view.


Secretary of the Association Attorney-at-Law Raveendra Manoj defended his association's stance while expressing these views to our news team.
