Speedy appointment of new Chief Justice.

Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakkody said that appointing a new Chief Justice according to the constitution should be carried out speedily.

The speaker is scheduled to submit to parliamentary council for its approval the names of the persons recommended for the post of Chief Justice after the President presents them to the Speaker.

Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakkody said that the new Chief Justice should be appointed by the President out of the recommendations re-submitted to the President after parliamentary council approval.
