The five suspects placed under custody in connection to the murder of Kelaniya Pradeshiya Sabha Member Hasith Madawala have been remanded further until the 31st of this month.

The suspects were produced before Mahara Magistrate Sahan Mapa this morning & attorneys representing the deceased pradeshiya sabha member urged the magistrate to arrest any other suspect's instrumental in the murder, if there were any.

Attorneys appearing on behalf of the defence requested of the magistrate to not enlarge the suspects on bail, since several of them had confessed.

Attorney at Law Sisisira Jayakodi appearing on behalf of the Late pradeshiya Sabha member expressed the following views to our news team.

Meanwhile a peaceful demonstration was observed before the Mahara court complex today.

Chairman of the Kelaniya Pradeshiya Sabha Prasanna Ranaweera who was among the protesters expressed these views.

Moreover the wife of the slain pradeshiya sabha member Dhammika Chandrani  Madawala was also present during today's court proceedings.

Subsequent to the end of the day's proceedings Dhammika Chandrani Madawala expressed her views to the media.

Sri Lanka Freedom Party Kalaniya Pradeshiya Sabha member Hasitha Madawala was gunned down before his home in Waragoda-Kelaniya on the

06th of this month.

In related developments when journalists queried the General Secretary of the United People's Freedom Alliance Minister Susil Premajayantha as to whether Minister Mervyn Silva would be placed under arrest for the alleged murder of Hasitha Madawala, that question was met with the following response.
