NGO fraud of 263 million busted; 14 suspects arrested

14 persons attached to two Non Governmental Organisations are being interrogated by the Criminal Investigations Department for having allegedly engaged in financial fraud amounting to 263 million rupees.


According to Police Media Spokesperson SSP Prishantha Jayakodi investigations are currently underway to nab several other suspects.


The group of individuals according to authorities had defalcated copious amounts of cash guised as an NGO.


The funds in this regard had preliminarily been obtained from foreign nations.
