Registration of a political party abolished.

Elections commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya has decided to remove United National Alternative front from the registered political parties list.


A spokesperson of the election secretariat stated that the relevant gazette notification was scheduled to be sent to print yesterday.


The symbol of the United National Alternative front is the gate.


According to the elections act political parties must extend the registration annually.


64 political partied have been registered at the elections secretariat as at present.


The relevant party has not sent any documents to the secretariat this year; hence a decision was taken to remove the party from the list.
