Appointing of UNP Deputy Leader postponed.

Tuesday, 22 January 2013 - 8:23

MPs Joseph Michael Perera and Daya Gamage have been re-appointed respectively as UNP's Assistant Leader and National Organiser.

That was at the special UNP working committee meeting held at the Sirikotha party headquarters last afternoon.

Party general secretary MP Tissa Attanayake said that while a person had not been appointed for the post of deputy leader at this meeting, it has been postponed till the next working committee meeting.

Similarly the time given for providing explanation to MPs who joined the Government after being elected at the last parliamentary election under the UNP's elephant symbol and who voted for the impeachment, ends today.

Party general secretary MP Tissa Attanayake said further that future action would be taken in accordance with the feedback received for this.

However our news team inquired from Deputy Minister Earl Gunasekera whether he would be giving explanation in accordance with the UNP working committee's decision.
