Several Deputy Leaders for UNP.

Thursday, 24 January 2013 - 8:14

UNP sources say that a proposal has been made for appointing several Deputy Leaders to the party.

Accordingly reports say that the party’s attention has been drawn with regard to creating two or more Deputy Leader posts.

Accordingly separate functions are scheduled to be assigned to these deputy leaders.

Reports say that Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe is scheduled to discuss about this with party seniors today or tomorrow.

Earlier MPs Karu Jayasuriya and Sajith Premadasa have served as co-deputy leaders.

However the appointment of a UNP deputy leader for 2013 was postponed at the UNP working committee meeting held recently.

Earlier UNP MP Sajith Premadasa served as the UNP Deputy Leader

Meanwhile The United National Party charges that the government is attempting to incite racist sentiments in an attempt to avoid economic, political & international pressure.

UNP MP Lakshman Kiriella addressing a media briefing held in Colombo yesterday noted that the year 2013 was a decisive year for the current regime.
