Colombo University Medical Faculty Senior Lecturer Nirmalaa Perera says that there is a problem about implementing the law with regard to negligence in the medical profession.

She pointed out that the amputation of the hand of law student Achalaa Priyadarshanee was only just another instance.

The Lecturer said so while participating at a media briefing the Colombo University Law Faculty Students’ Union had organized yesterday.

Meanwhile issuing a communiqué the GMOA said that it was unfair to level allegations against doctors before the investigations with regard to the incident were over.

Similarly GMOA member Dr. Nalin de Herath said that the Health Ministry should also take steps to arrive at a final conclusion after carrying out a specialist investigation.
