All set for the 65th independence day celebrations

The 65th Independence Day celebrations will be held tomorrow at the Fedrick Fort in Trincomalee.


This would be under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.


The theme for this year’s Independence day would be “a Wonderful Motherland, a Prosperous tomorrow.


Around 4,000 security forces officials will participate at the independence day celebrations.


Army Spokesperson Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasooriya speaking regarding the preparations expressed these views.




Meanwhile, the Police headquarters stated that several roads in Trincomalee will be closed due to rehearsals for the Independence Day celebrations.


Accordingly Main Street, Green Road, Wanniyar Road, Customs Road and Dice Road will be closed.

Curfew reimposed from 2.00pm will continue until further notice.
