Delays to persist in appointment of UNP Deputy Leader

Party sources within the United National Party state that the appointment of Deputy Leader may well take longer than expected.

Although speculation was rife that Former Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa would be appointed to the post during the next party working committee meeting, this decision is expected to be delayed.

Moreover a recent statement made by parliamentarian Sajith Premadasa during the party member's promotion campaign has been scrutinised by senior party figures, which in turn has been attributed to delays in a final decision being formulated.

Meanwhile discussions are also under way to decide if Rukman Senanayeke   should be appointed the UNP's next Deputy Leader.
