Bones found in the mass grave in Matale sent to America

Courts have granted permission for bone fragments found in the mass grave located on the Matale Hospital Grounds to be sent to the United States for tests.


Professor of archaeological post graduate studies of the Kelaniya Universities, Raj Somadewa, who is heading the investigation, had the following to say.




The JVP also is paying close attention regarding the mass grave and it also released a statement in the recent past in connection to this.


A press conference was convened by the JVP today to express views regarding the mass grave and JVP MP Anura Kumara Dissanayaka stated that the initial investigations have revealed that the grave belonged to the time period of 1987 - 89.




However, police media spokesperson SSP Prishantha Jayakody stated that the bones found in the grave were considerably old.
